Application procedure for residents in the Caribbean part of the Netherlands
For the countries of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten (southern part) as well as for the special municipalities of the Netherlands, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba (Caribbean part of the Netherlands), the Consulate General in Amsterdam is the responsible passport authority.
In urgent emergencies (e.g. if a passport is lost), travel documents for returning to Germany can be issued by the honorary consuls in Aruba and Curaçao.
As the honorary consuls in Curaçao and Aruba are not passport authorities of the Federal Foreign Office, a regular passport (with fingerprints) must always be applied for at the responsible passport authority.
The passport authority responsible for the place of residence is responsible for official registration in Germany, and the respective German diplomatic mission abroad is responsible for deregistering from Germany.
The honorary consul in Curaçao is authorized to take the biometric data required for passport applications (fingerprints) and to forward them to the Consulate General in Amsterdam for further processing.
Fingerprints cannot be taken in Aruba; only travel documents for returning to Germany and provisional passports can be processed here.
The same conditions apply to the application as for German citizens in the Netherlands. The passports are sent to the honorary consuls for delivery.
Please note that a significantly higher processing fee is charged for processing by the honorary consuls and the processing time is longer because all data and identification documents must be sent by FedEx courier.
If you have any questions about passport applications for the Caribbean part of the Netherlands, please contact:

If you need a new passport or ID card, please first send the completed application form by e-mail to the Consulate General (see above). We will then clarify which documents are required and what costs you will ultimately incur. We will then arrange an appointment for the fingerprinting in Curacao.
You can find an overview of the documents to be submitted on our website.
You can find an overview of the fees to be paid for the respective passport documents here. In addition, there is the honorary consul's processing fee (currently 81.61 euros for credit card payments or 82 euros for cash payments) and the fee for shipping with FedEx (there and back) as well as the transfer fee.
When transferring the fees from a bank account outside the EU, please always select "all transfer costs solely to paid by sender". Otherwise, further processing is not possible.
